“What the fuck is faith?”
So asks Lucy, our heroine in A Beginner’s Guide to Deicide. I am still searching for the answer to that question myself.
The Christian origin story has always intrigued me, being raised and confirmed in the Episcopal Church as a boy. A Beginners Guide to Deicide challenges the story
I was taught at Sunday School, and does so with mischievous irreverence. This was what struck me when I first read this script about a year ago.
In Lucy’s quest to find God, kill him, and change the story we’ve all heard, she
time travels, jumps in and out of classic genres, and pokes fun at pop culture. Human existence has been misinformed for far too long, and time is of the essence for Lucy to set the story straight.Puppet and actor Chris Dews
It got me thinking: where did this whole thing start? Did God start it? Was there someone or something before God? Who set up the dominoes and what energy force bumped the first domino to set this existence into motion? What brought us all here tonight to Single Carrot Theatre to share this story, the laughs, and the free Boh? Also, does God like pizza bagels?
I hope that you walk out of here with more questions than answers. Enjoy the ride and have faith, whatever the fuck that is, that at the end of the play we’ll all be in once piece. Probably.

“It’s God logic, as written in the bible, every word of which is true, and we know every word is true because the bible says that the bible is true and if you remember from earlier in this sentence, every word of the bible is true.” – Stephen Colbert
