ABOUT
Single Carrot Theatre launched its first-ever Capital Campaign in fiscal year 2013 to:
- Pay for the build-out of a new, state-of-the-art facility
- Purchase 21st century production equipment and computers (we’ve never mounted a production without borrowing equipment, and we all use our own, personal computers)
- Establish significant reserve funds
We moved in January 2014 to our new home at 2600 N. Howard Street, where we share a roof with Parts & Labor and Young Audiences/Arts for Learning. We are immensely grateful to the foundations and individuals (see below) who made it possible for SCT to make the final payments to developers in June 2014.
BUT!
We still urgently need basic production equipment, office technology, increased street visibility, and cash reserves.
The additional $125,000 SCT intends to raise by December 2015 will enable the company to purchase essential items and assure its future financial stability. OKAY, I’M IN!
CAMPAIGN FACTS
Total Campaign Goal: $400,000*
Total Pledged to Date: $276,000
Campaign Completion Date: December 2015
* Why so small? SCT has a “take what you need” philosophy and a modest ($358K) annual operating budget.
NEW SPACE
In 2011, Seawall Development Company approached Single Carrot to tell us about a tire shop across the street from Miller’s Court (where Seawall turned the derelict H.F. Miller and Son Tin Box and Can Manufacturing Plant into teacher apartments and non-profit offices). If Seawall transformed the tire shop into a performance venue and restaurant, would Single Carrot move in? We answered, as every good student of theatre would, with a resounding “Yes, and.” We have always aspired to rehearse, perform, build, teach, and learn under one roof. Our new home at 2600 N. Howard Street gives us the space to do all those things safely and comfortably.
