PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EDUCATORS

Theatre is an inherently experiential process, in which practitioners embody and explore diverse perspectives, values, and ways of being. In the classroom, theatrical practices cultivate space to grow not only in academic proficiency, but also in empathy, communication, critical understanding, and personal connectedness to the topic at hand.

In these educator-focused workshops, participants are coached in SCT’s signature interactive drama methodology.  Through this training, educators learn a wide variety of applicable process-based exercises and receive guidance in how to implement these tools in their ELA, Science, and Social Studies lessons. Theatrical tools presented include improvisational structures, physical ensemble practices, character study, immersive world-building, collaborative meaning-making, among many others.
